Saona Canto de la Playa Tour: Among turtles and starfish...
The trip is on a fast boat setting out at 8.30 am.
The first stop is the Peñon caves where we relax in the “natural pools”, a wide area with a very shallow sandy seabed about half a kilometer far from the coast.
The sea is turquoise and we can admire famous starfish from the mangroves, and if we are lucky, will be able to see turtles in their habitat.
The beach of the village of Mano Juan is the next stop: a pleasant walk in the paths of the fishing village in perfect integration with the local community.
Then We are going to visit the observation point of turtle eggs and the houses of the inhabitants with the typical Caribbean colours.
At 12.30 pm we are ready to eat from a buffet of lobster, rice, pasta, salad, tropical fruit and typical dessert… everything is carefully cooked by our local staff. Beer, cuba libre, mamajuana, coffee and soft drinks are included in our list of drinks.
After lunch, here we are on our way to Canto de la Playa: we drop anchor and set sail on a beach with miles and miles of fine white and pink coral sand. Here we find crystal clear water where you can dive surrounded by fish of various species and colors; a seabed full of corals; a lot of high and impressive palm groves across the bay. And if we’re hungry… we will have a snack and open bar available.
On the way back there is another stop at a sandbank in the middle of the sea to have one more last swim with a lot of starfish.
